There has been a close bonding between the trees and human life in India. The trees are worshipped here. Growing trees and caring for them are considered most virtuous duty. The trees like tulsi, peepal, amla, bel, kadamb, parijat, aam ,neem etc. have a great spiritual and religious importance. Unfortunately the ecosystem has been disturbed because of lack of awareness, pollution, indiscriminate cutting of trees and the disappearance of the forests.. The rains have become irregular and the rivers are dying. The availability of water is decreasing day by day. However India has many glorious examples when people have sacrificed their life to protect the trees but in present scenario the environment awareness needs a reawakening. So the Jaldhara Vikas Sansthan has started a mission “Grow Tree” for planting and saving trees, water conservation and river rejuvenation.
